A Classical Special program dedicated to doomed romance. From Leonard Bernstein's jazzy take on the Romeo and Juliet story to Piotr Tchaikovsky's famous depiction of Shakespeare's original, doomed lovers will live and die again on our stage. But Western composers have no monopoly on love and tragedy. Violinist Cho-Liang "Jimmy" Lin performs The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto based on one of China's most widely known folk tales. Mr. Lin also features in The Love, a new work looking back at the ardor of youth from maturity, written especially for him by acclaimed Chinese film composer Tan Dun.
