The 18th annual Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp is back, revamped and taking this party to a whole new level by moving entirely down 5th Avenue! Mark your calendar for the 2012 Fat Tuesday celebration on March from 6:00 PM to Midnight for a night full of self-indulgence and enticing performances that will leave your senses begging for more. Fifth Avenue will come alive from E Street to L Street with three entertainment stages, sexy fairy dancers, fire performers, DJs, elaborate video projections along the buildings and an epic parade with dozens of floats so that no spectator leaves without a handful of beads. Brace yourself! This year’s party starts with Fairyland, a magical place where sexy Go-Go dancers dressed as fairies and the hottest girl DJ’s take over from E Street to Market. Fifth Avenue has never seen dancers break it down the way they will from Market to J Street in the Urban House Area; Freestyle, krumping, hip-hop and break dancing, you name it and we’ve got it. ‘Technovale’ takes over 5th Avenue between J and K Street with progressive techno DJs and dancers on individual illuminated platforms in this ‘glow’ zone. ‘Technovale’ will kick-off with a performance by Lee Burridge, Sharam and The Crystal Method. No Mardi Gras celebration would be complete without a giant parade, which is why this year’s procession will be bigger and better than ever! Starting at 9:30 PM all eyes will turn to the dozens of floats as they drive down 5th Avenue pouring beads into the streets. The main gates are located at 5th and Broadway and 6th Avenue and K Street. Tickets are just $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the event.
