Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I get tickets?
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for members and youth (all ages). They are available at the Midway Ticket Booth (open daily, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and at www.midway.org. Tickets are limited and go on sale on June 10 at 9 a.m.
You’re sold out and I missed it! How can I buy tickets?
Unfortunately once we are sold out, fire marshal restrictions prohibit selling more tickets. You might check ebay or Craig’s List where tickets have been sold in past years.
When do the gates open on July 4?
6 p.m. For safety and liability reasons, personal belongings cannot be brought aboard in advance.
What about food and beverage for sale?
We will have picnic-style food and snacks available for purchase, as well as a beer/wine/soft drink bar for purchase.
What can I bring aboard?
Lightweight lawn chairs, blankets, small coolers (no larger than 28-quart), snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. No alcohol, no glass. Parcels are subject to inspection. Please note the ship’s elevators are exclusively reserved for the elderly, wheelchairs and others requiring physical assistance. They will not be available for coolers, equipment, etc.
Can I stay aboard from a daytime July 4 visit?
For safety and clean-up reasons, no. All daytime guests must exit and only those with July 4 tickets will be re-admitted at 6 p.m.
What about parking?
The ACE parking lot on Navy Pier will be open all day and evening. Paid parking rates apply, but please note on July 4 it will be congested. We encourage public transportation. We’re a 5-minute walk from the Broadway/Amtrak trolley station.
How do I get the best seats?
First come, first served starting at 6 p.m….although the fireworks are so close that every location on the flight deck is great!
What activities will take place?
We’ll have a variety of activities for the kids, optional flight simulators, an open gift shop, KOGO will broadcast live from the flight deck. This year we are featuring Midway carnival-style games and live musical entertainment by a great local band, NRG…lots of entertainment until the fireworks at about 9 p.m.
